FLE began in 1995 by Kaitlyn’s late husband, Kyle Porter, with humble beginnings through a county 4-H project. It quickly grew in numbers and ambition, with goals to compete at a national level. Kyle was the driving force of the operation. With no family members having knowledge of the cattle industry, he took every opportunity to learn and improve his skill set.

After many years of hard work and growth, Kyle exhibited the Champion Simmental Female at the 2007 American Royal — a milestone he cherished. Kyle also served on the American Junior Simmental Association Board of Trustees from 2008-2010. In December 2019, Kyle and Kaitlyn married, both excited to continue the success of FLE together. A farming accident in July 2020 changed everything. Now Kaitlyn carries their dreams, and Kyle's legacy, forward.

In honor of Kyle, Kaitlyn and Kyle’s close friends organize the annual Kyle Porter Memorial Show, hosted every December. Donations are accepted year-round for the Kyle Porter Foundation, which provides scholarships for youth studying in the agriculture field.
